Upendo Means Love A Project of Creative Visions Fiscal Sponsorship

For all those who know me well, you know that from summer of 2009 'til summer of 2012 my family and I lived in Kenya. Shortly after moving there, and thanks to Amy Eldon Turteltaub, creator of Creative Visions, I was introduced to Cura, an orphanage housing 50 children who lost their parents to AIDS.

Cura became my home away from home, and the 50 children became spiritually, emotionally, and palpably, my kids. We spent our days practicing self-empowering activities, reading books to one another, and provided emotional and psychological support.

I also spent the three years collecting clothing and toys, organizing fun trips to water parks and bowling alleys (and much more), and establishing a free wi-fi connection for the computer room. All of this was possible thanks to the generous donations from you: my family and friends.

In planning our visit to Cura again this December, I want to ensure that the support continues to be felt by the Cura children. This can only happen with your help. I love supporting Cura, not only for the emotional bond that has been created between myself and the children, but also because every dollar donated is accounted for by the one and only person truly dedicated to Cura, Hayden Bixby, my Kenyan sister. Please allow me to share my photos and stories with you in hopes that it will inspire you to give.
