Striver's Row A Project of Creative Visions Fiscal Sponsorship
Striver's Row is a feature film about a strong black teenage girl with dream of getting a great education, and fighting for a better life. We've been developing the project for 2 years and need your help to close the last financial gap for production.
WHY THIS FILM NOW?
We are a team dedicated to making films that have a positive impact on the world. Telling stories of women...mostly women of color--in a divided nation where a government is attempting to discredit the integrity of individuals like our writer and her heroine, is needed more than ever.
Privately funded to date, the 'Striver's Row' team is turning to Creative Visions Fiscal Sponsorship raise our goal amount of $50,000 to jumpstart us into production late this spring, and involve the community as it really does take an army to make a film! These funds will go towards paying the NYC-based crew and close our current financing gap.
Kalani is a black teenage girl living in Harlem with her older brother Jacob, and her younger sister, Bebe, while her mother struggles to make ends meet for the family. As Kalani's siblings get caught in a myriad of hardships, Kalani teeters on the brink of ruin as she struggles to keep both her family and her dream intact.
Striver's Row reminds us that hard work, optimism, and perseverance in the face of overwhelming adversity is the essence of what it is to be an American.
This fundraiser represents the last funds we need to jumpstart into production. We have an investor, and we will invest our own money into the project. If this is successful, this feature film will become a reality thanks to you!
What connects us all is the struggle for a better life. In an increasingly classist world, with opportunities and resources often too tightly held, it's important to remember what brings us together — a notion that with hard work, drive, and focus, all things are possible no matter where you are born.
Leveling the playing field and upholding these ideals is how we've discovered our tongue-tied prophets, our savvy entrepreneurs, and our most inspiring artists.
This film is a celebration of that ideal and we thank you for taking the time to check out our campaign and help us reach our goal!
